Day #6

Today we said goodbye to Nana Martin, who was headed back down to Tucson.
We were sad to see her go and hope to see her and the rest of the Martin family again soon!

Later that day we had our first appointment with the pediatrician.  Molly is down about a half pound from her birth weight, which is within normal range, and everything else looked good.

Since our doctor is in Gig Harbor, we headed over to Foxsparrow afterward for dinner with the Murphy/Opplers, as well as with my Aunt Patricia and Nikita.

The cousins-- snug in their car seats.

Something else we learned today is that Ryan's guitar playing puts Molly to sleep.  A good trick to have up our sleeves.

Day #5

Today we rested, snuggled Molly and watched The Voice.

Molly loves her bouncer from Nana and Papa Martin.

She also likes snuggling with her papa.

Dislikes:

Swaddling

Diaper Changes (though she is getting better all the time)

Day #4

Today was wonderful.

My aunties Michelle and Tracy, and my cousins Stacy and Stephanie came by for a visit.
(Michelle and Tracy-- send me some pictures!)

With my cousin Stacy-- who was the only one who guessed Molly's birthday right on the guessing calendar at my baby shower.

They brought delicious and beautiful cookies! We ate them up. So yummy.
And some tasty soups. So good!

Later in the day, my folks, Sara and Jason and lil Dani stopped by and we had tasty tacos for dinner.

Molly wore her very first dress (from my cousin Megan Gibson-- thanks Megs!), and hung out with her cousin Dani.

Dani is about 8 weeks older than Molly, and before Molly was born I thought of her as still a newborn.  But seeing them next to one another now, I realize Dani is growing up fast!  What a difference a few weeks can make!

Sara posted the below picture on Facebook.  Some of the comments made me laugh so I have tried to copy them below.  Sorry about the funny format!

Dani gives her new cousin Molly a hug!

Day #3

Saturday we were discharged from the hospital and headed home.

Some more pictures from St. Joe's

So happy in my elephant pajamas

Shortly after this Molly decided she hated being swaddled.  At least so far, who knows about next week?

She is much cozier in snug blankies like this one, made by her Auntie Jodi.  The hat was Papa Doug's baby hat.

Nana Martin was there waiting for us when we got home from the hospital. She'd scrubbed down the house, taken care of the pooches and Miss Kitty and had balloons tied out front celebrating the arrival of lil Molly.

And there was chowdah on the stove.

It was a wonderful homecoming and we couldn't have felt more blessed.

Day #2

Ry, Molly and I stayed at St. Joe's both Thursday and Friday nights.  It was wonderful to relax in our room and get to know our lil one.  Molly was cheerful, a good nurser and slept soundly both nights (well, soundly for a newborn).

We had some wonderful visitors on Friday including:

Our first visitors on Friday morning were Grandma Squeak and Auntie Sandra.  They were in Tacoma for another appointment and we were thrilled they were able to stop by and see us.

Papa Doug and Memaw stopped by next and Molly snuggled with them for a bit.

After that Katy Stone, one of my dearest and oldest friends stopped in for a quick visit.  She dropped me off a few of my favorite things: Skittles, a few gossip mags and some cozy socks.

Later in the afternoon Sara, Jason and Baby Danika popped in for a visit.

We spent the evening relaxing and eating left over thai food Papa Doug had ordered us from Li Li's.  (Soooo much better than hospital food!)

Molly also got her first bath from the very nice nurse at St. Joe's
At first she hated it, but was very pleased by the end, as well as relaxed. So relaxes she soiled her bath water. Oops.

I've Been Born!

What a crazy and wonderful week!

Time for some blog updates.

The biggest news is that Molly Makena was born!

March 8 (four days past her due date of March 4), at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma, WA at 10:26 pm.

Weight: 8 pounds 1.4 ounces
Length: 20"

Ryan, Grandma Murphy and Martin, and Auntie Sara were all there for the birth and I couldn't have been more grateful for all of their help as it was a long, long labor.

Papa Doug, Uncle Jason and Cousin Danika were all in the waiting room and came right in to welcome Molly to the world after she was born.

Swaddle Me

No Molly yet so Ryan, Jeannie and I practiced our swaddling the other night.
We are pretty much experts.  I'm wondering if it will be more difficult on the real thing.

Here's the YouTube tutorial we used:
